International Seminar Queer Easter 2023: Let’s talk about sex – a safer space for mutual education. Register now!
For more than 20 years, Queer Easter is bringing together young activists from socialist movements and LGBTIQA*-organisations. It brings together up to 120 activists from all over the world to join this unique queer educational space. This year, we’ll focus on sex education! In our current capitalist society, sex and power are deeply intertwined. For queer people, this means living in a world where there is widespread misinformation and myths about queer sex and sexual health; where sex education, and especially queer sex education, is not available to everyone; and where queer people in public imagination are always oversexualized. That’s why there can be no queer liberation without talking about queer sex. For people to take an emancipated stance regarding their sex and romantic life, gender identity, sexual, reproductive, and mental health, they need to be able to make (well) informed decisions. For this, good sex education is needed. Register – and let’s make it happen!
The programme is developed by the international team of Kurt Löwenstein Education Centre. We will work in track sessions every day. But we will leave plenty of time per day for other parts of the programme participants self-organise, with the help of the international team, but also sometimes themselves. In committees we organise our free time and evenings. We will have time to share workshops also participants bring with them and spend one day on a field trip in Berlin. Much more will develop and happen.
The seminar will be conducted in English; thus, it will be rather hard to understand the instructions and fully participate if your English is limited. However, you may help each other out in delegations.

An international seminar is a place in which you can meet people from all over the world. Many cannot afford to reschedule their flights to their homes after the seminar, because they fell ill. We therefore ask you to arrive with at least two vaccinations against the corona-virus (exceptions possible with a doctor’s certificate justifying your reason). We furthermore ask you to check yourself before you depart for the seminar. When you feel unwell, maybe even ill, please make a corona test before you leave and do not come, when it is positive. Write us, we might still be able to reimburse your travel costs (after you handed in all supporting documents). If you are unwell or fall ill during the seminar, please wear a medical mask covering your mouth and nose if you need to leave your bed/room to prevent others in the seminar to also fall ill. Please bring some masks on your own. Maybe a teamer on the seminar can also provide one.
On your arrival we will check your vaccinations against corona and do a corona self-test with you.
So far, we have successfully organized several seminars under these conditions. We are confident, that the seminar will be possible.
