Kurt Löwenstein
Our education center is named after Kurt Löwenstein. Kurt Löwenstein was involved as a Neukölln school councillor and chairman of the "Reichsarbeitsgemeinschaft der Kinderfreunde" in the Weimar Republic for children's rights and for a fundamental school reform. He died in exile in 1939.
In the spirit of Kurt Löwenstein, the education center has made it its task to provide non formal education opportunities to less priviliged children and young people and to support them in advocacy and participation processes.
In our house you can find an exhibition that provides more information about Löwenstein's life and work.
Here you will find (in German) an article about Kurt Löwenstein and his ideas and a Power Point presentation about the life and work of Kurt Löwenstein.
Anyone who wants to learn more about the history of the Social Democratic Workers Youth Movement and the work of Kurt Löwenstein can turn to the archive of the Workers Youth Movement.
